Cord of wood calculator
Enter your stack's length, height and log length, and how many rows sit side by side. A cord is 128 cubic feet, so the calculator divides the stack's cubic feet by 128.
Worked example: two rows of 16-inch logs, each 12 feet long and 4 feet high. That is 12 × 4 × (16 ÷ 12) × 2 = 128 cubic feet, exactly one cord.
Measure a neat, tight stack. Wood thrown loose takes more room, so a loose pile measures bigger than the wood in it.
Questions
Does it work for a loose pile?
No. It measures a rectangular stack. Stack the wood first, then measure it.
What if the stack's height varies?
Measure the height in a few places and enter the average.
What is the log length for?
Each row is one log deep, so the log length is the row's depth. For a stack measured in feet, enter its depth in inches (4 feet is 48).
How do I turn cords into a price per cord?
Use the quote comparison on the home page: it puts any unit, with delivery and stacking, on a price per full cord.
